Police talk down shed snooper armed with hammer, spray can

North Bay Police responded to a report of an unknown person wandering around behind a residence on Highway 11 North.

NBPS officers attended the location after a call came in around 10:50am on Wednesday. Police say the accused had entered a garden shed on the property and when approached she turned toward the officers with a hammer in one hand and an aerosol can in the other. Officers report the accused was refusing to cooperate but they were able to defuse the situation and make the arrest.

Once in custody, police say the accused was found to be in possession of 0.8 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine.

A 35-year-old North Bay woman has been arrested and charged with:

  • One Count of Break and Enter with Intent
  • One Count of Assault with a Weapon
  • One Count of Possession of a Weapon Dangerous to Public Peace
  • One Count of Possession of a Controlled Substance
  • One count of Breach of Probation

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing.

Deputy Chief Daze of the North Bay Police stated, “This is an example of people being observant in their neighbourhood. Working together and following preventative ideas such as ‘Lock it or Lose it’ and ‘Know your Neighbour’ can help keep your neighbourhood safe.”
