Water meter debate held in council chambers

North Bay residents will be big deciders on how much water they pay in the future.  A consultant recommends that 60 percent of the water meter costs be a fixed rate and the remainder is a variable amount.  So for homeowners who use more than the average amount of water, your bill could rise by 15 percent.  The opposite is true for low volume users who could see a rate drop cost of nearly six percent.  Overall, the increase for average users is expected to be just above four percent.  The public gets to discuss the increase at a March 9th meeting with the rates set to come into effect this July.
