School teacher becomes part of Human Rights Hall of Fame

The Nipissing District Human Rights Hall of Fame has its latest inductee.

She’s Therese St. Jules, a retired school teacher from Hearst who has lived in North Bay for the past 22 years.

Hall of Fame spokesman Don Curry says St. Jules was recognized for several reasons including two humanitarian trips to the Dominican Republic. 

And Curry says this time the selection committee had a hard time picking a worthy recipient because of a strong nomination field. He said the decision came down to whether they choose someone who was stronger on the anti-racism side or on the human rights side. They decided to go with St. Jules because she falls on the human rights side which is more in line with the purpose of that hall of fame.

St. Jules will be inducted into the Hall of Fame March 19th during the Evening of Applause event in North Bay.
