NBPS: Two victims suffered ‘puncture wounds’ in Tuesday morning attack

An update from the North Bay Police Service on Tuesday morning’s assault with a weapon investigation.

NBPS Sgt Jody deHaas confirms there were two victims who suffered non-life threatening injuries caused by puncture wounds from the incident.

One victim has been released from the hospital, according to deHaas, and the other remains in hospital in stable condition.

Police have advised it was “a targeted attack and there is no threat to public safety,” and it is believed to have been an isolated incident.

The NBPS will continue investigating the incident initially categorized as involving “injuries to multiple persons.” The North Bay Forensic Identification Unit is assisting the Criminal Investigation Section, resulting in increased uniformed patrol presence in the downtown area of the city.

Shortly before 4 :00am on Tuesday, NBPS responded to an address on McIntyre Street East in North Bay after receiving a report of a man requiring medical assistance.
