OPP seizes $270K of suspected purple and pink heroin

Early Friday, members of the OPP in Markstay-Warren received reports from an off-duty officer after a suspicious vehicle was spotted on Nipissing Street.

Officers were able to locate the vehicle and stop it and soon discovered the driver was wanted by Greater Sudbury Police and was suspected of being impaired by drugs and was arrested. Shortly after, the female passenger was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

With the assistance of the OPP Canine Unit, officers seized a large quantity of suspected ”Purple and Pink” Heroin, a taser, an expandable baton and a large amount of Canadian currency The street value of the drugs is approximately $270,000.

As a result of the investigation, the 32-year-old male from Sudbury has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device
  • Operation While Impaired -Drugs
  • Fail to Comply with Recognizance (2 counts)

The 32-year-old female passenger from Sudbury has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Heroin
  • Possession of a Prohibited Device

Both parties have been held for a bail hearing.
