Towering inferno at airport only a drill

It’s like something out of a disaster movie but officials say it’s important to keep fire crews trained for emergencies.

North Bay Fire Chief Jason Whiteley has shared some vivid images of crews engaged in nighttime training at Jack Garland Airport.

“All this week North Bay Fire crews have been participating in Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting (ARFF) training,” said Whiteley. “The training consists of classroom instruction all morning and scenarios in the afternoon and then again at night. The scenarios include initial crash fire knockdown, engine fires, landing gear fires, cockpit fires and passenger rescue.”
