Only 14,000 blocks are needed to meet the financial goal of the build and ensure the hospice belongs to the community.
That’s the word from Nipissing Serenity Hospice, which has officially launched the Buy a Block campaign that will complete the capital fundraising for the local hospice.
Nipissing Serenity Hospice is a residential hospice that will offer compassionate and personalized palliative care for anyone in our community free of cost, in a natural and serene environment. The palliative care services will be approximately one-third of the cost of an acute care facility, relieving the financial burden from our local hospital. In addition, the project has created many new employment opportunities.
“Like many of our community members, I have gotten involved with this project because I am passionate about our community having the best, loving palliative care and make sure it is available to everyone,” stated Executive Director Elizabeth Evans. “We will be selling ‘Blocks’ to anyone who wishes to support our cause and looking for teams and businesses to pledge their support.”
There are three ways to get involved:
- Buy a Block online for $250
- Pledge to buy one or more Blocks
- Donate towards the fundraiser in any denomination, as every dollar is important
“The ‘Buy A Block’ campaign will continue until we reach our goal and as of Friday, Nipissing Serenity Hospice has already sold 22 blocks. There will be a Live Donor Board that can be found on the website www.nipissingserenityhospice.ca that will allow everyone to follow along with the progress of the campaign.

About Nipissing Serenity Hospice:
Nipissing Serenity Hospice will serve patients in the Districts of Nipissing and East Parry Sound. The hospice is being built at 799 John Street, toward Laurier Woods and above Chippewa Creek in a natural and serene setting. We will provide individual rooms for the privacy and comfort of our patients, as well as accommodation for family or friends. We will offer respite support for up to 1-2 weeks to offer relief for caregivers. Nipissing Serenity Hospice is on track to open its doors in December.
