Around supper time on Tuesday, North Bay Police Service responded to a report of a vehicle collision on Jet Avenue near Tenth Avenue.
When police got to the scene they found two people had taken off, with one reportedly running into Lake Nipissing. Along with assistance from the OPP marine unit, the police searched the lake for the person, but they have not been found.
North Bay Fire and Emergency Services along with the North Bay Paramedics responded to the call as well.
During the investigation, the North Bay Police notified the province’s Special Investigation Unit (SIU) which has invoked its mandate. The SIU is called when a citizen involved in a police investigation has been seriously injured, dies, or there is an allegation of sexual assault.
The North Bay Police will be unable to provide further information.
