Humane Society drops “surrender fee”

As of today the North Bay and District Humane Society have announced that they will no longer enforce a “Surrender Fee” for owned animals.

The Humane Society says that animal surrender fees can act as a barrier to animal welfare access and pet medical care.

The new policy for the Humane Society states that “members of the public surrendering owned animals will be allowed to do so free of charge during regular business hours subject to available space and resources. A donation to help with ongoing care would be appreciated but not required.”

Should you have any questions about the new policy, you are encouraged to call the Humane Society at 705-474-1251.
