“Fill a Firetruck” fills a firetruck

The annual Fill a Firetruck event did just that, according to the numbers from the North Bay Food Bank.

On Wednesday Fire crews and the North Bay Food Bank set up shop outside of Parker’s Independent Grocer to collect food for the food bank.

This year they collected 1442 pounds of non perishable food, along with $1815.85 in monetary donations and $240 in gift cards.

“Every year we are blown away by the generosity of the folks from North Bay and surrounding area,” said Sheri Korn, Captain of Fire Prevention. “Thank you to Parker’s Your Independent Grocer for allowing us to ‘park our truck’ and kudos to Amber and her wonderful volunteers at the North Bay Food Bank.”

“Once again, our community has answered the call to help put food on our shelves,” said Amber Livingstone, manager of the North Bay Food Bank. “Thanks to North Bay Fire and Emergency Services, our volunteers and everyone who made a donation; your support is appreciated.”

The North Bay Food Bank is available to accept food and monetary donations year round. The food bank is located at 1016 Fisher Street in North Bay and is open to serve clients Mondays and Tuesdays from 9:00am until 12:00pm, and Wednesdays and Thursdays from 3:00pm until 6:00 pm. They also have extended business hours for those wishing to make donations at the food bank.
