Toastmasters flag flies at City Hall

The City of North Bay celebrated confidence and finding your voice earlier this morning.

The City, along with Toastmasters International, raised a Toastmasters flag at City Hall and with it raising awareness for what Toastmasters does.

“It’s a worldwide organization that helps any individual with their communication and leadership skills,” Lee-Ann Schneider, the president of the North Bay and Area Toastmasters. “We help encourage one another, it is a very safe environment to practice your speaking and taking on different roles that will help you with your leadership. It’s a safe space to get up and talk in front of people.”

Toastmasters meet on the first and third Wednesday of every month at the North Bay Police Station from 6:30pm until 8:30pm according to Schneider, and they are trying to set up online meetings as well.

As for the flag-raising, the Toastmasters are happy that the City is on board.

“It’s great,” Schneider stated. “Hopefully we can let people know what this is all about.”

If Toastmasters sounds like something you would be interested in, you can go online to either the international or North Bay site.
