Cops for Cancer goes Friday

Cops for Cancer kicks off Friday morning.

Starting out in front of the North Bay Police Service station, officers will ride bicycles to local schools to collect donations for cancer research.

“This is something new that we are trying in the North Bay area,” said Special Constable John Schultz. “The program involves officers biking through the community and looking for and soliciting funds to battle pediatric cancer.”

“This partnership is something that we as the Canadian Cancer Society value so much in our community,” Debbie Marson, the Community Fundraising Specialist with the Canadian Cancer Society said. “We have a group that has come forward and modified an existing fundraiser that we have done for many years.”

The officers will head to  Chippewa, St. Ange, and Scollard Hall.

The event is set to start at 9:25am with 19 officers riding the bikes and 3 police cruisers.
