Battalion to celebrate Halloween at Coach Butler’s house

A staple of North Bay’s Halloween evening for the last few years has been Battalion Halloween at Coach Stan Butler’s home.

“We’re going to do Halloween,” Butler said at his weekly press meeting. “We started it here year one. I think it is important for us to give back the community. Halloween has always been something I like.”

After a rough stretch on the road, where the Troops have dropped all five games while they vacated Memorial Gardens for the curling, Butler has maintained his humour.

“I said to the guys, at the rate we are going now, I can dress up as a coach that night and they can dress up as players and we can have a lot of fun.”

Butler and the team will start welcoming children at 5:30pm until 7:30pm. Players will be there to sign autographs as well with their mascot Sarge. The blow-up tank that the Battalion players enter the rink through will also be on display and Tim Horton’s will be available for the parents. Did we mention, there will also be candy?

“I was a smart guy, I waited until the day before to get good deals on candy,” Butler explained. “The lady there said to me ‘I don’t know where you live buddy because you have a lot of candy.’”

Butler lives on Mapleridge Drive and says with the Tank and players, you won’t be able to miss his home. He also adds that he apologizes to his neighbours in advance.
