The North Bay Taxpayers Association says staff changes numbers in mid stream when arriving at tax levy increases for the following year. Spokesman Don Rennick says last year’s tax levy was $76.5 million. But he says when this year’s budget process began, last year’s final number started at $77.4 million. Rennick says this has the effect of making it look like any new increase is lower than it really is. He says what staff should be doing is reporting the actual tax levy increases and not change the numbers.
