Early morning collision results in impaired charge

An early morning vehicle collision resulted in an impaired charge.

Around 2:30 am on November 11, North Bay OPP was called to an accident on Highway 11 near Callander. The vehicle had hit a rock-cut and landed back on the highway, blocking the southbound lanes.

As a result of the investigation, a 39-year-old man from Chisholm Township has been charged with:

  • Operation While Impaired – Alcohol and Drugs
  • Failure or Refusal to Comply with Demand

The accused has been released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear at the North Bay courthouse on November 19. He has also been issued a 90-day automatic driver’s license suspension, and the vehicle is impounded for seven days.

These charges mark 55 drivers charged under Criminal Impaired Driving Laws in the North Bay Detachment area in 2019. In 2018, North Bay OPP charged 49 drivers.
