NBRHC tops in quality of surgical outcomes

North Bay Regional Health Centre (NBRHC) is one of the best in the business when it comes to the quality of surgery outcomes.

This, from the American College of Surgeons National Quality Improvement Program (ACS NSQIP), which recognized NBRHC as one of the top 88 out of 722 participating hospitals to achieve ‘meritorious outcomes’ for surgical outcomes in 2018.

The hospital says it is a prestige bestowed on the top 10 per cent enrolled in NSQIP globally.

“We have achieved great success for our surgical patients at NBRHC including decreased rates of peri-operative pneumonia, cardiac complications, and renal failure,” explains Dr. Amber Menezes, Surgeon Champion of NSQIP at NBRHC.  “In addition, in the recent Auditor General’s Report, all Ontario NSQIP participating hospitals demonstrated an overall 27% reduction in post-surgical infections.”

NBRHC has been a part of ACS NSQIP since 2015,  and have been a leader provincially in driving surgical quality outcomes that are grounded by evidence.
