On Wednesday, you can get your first looks at the design of the new Community and Recreation Centre.

From 4:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the lobby of City Hall, members of the design team from MacLennan Jaunkalns Miller Architects Ltd. and North Bay’s Mitchell Jensen Architects will be on hand to answer questions. The design team is expected to give an update to City Council during a Special Committee meeting which will follow the open house at 6:00 p.m.

The Community and Recreation Centre is expected to replace the older West Ferris Community Centre with construction starting later this year. The new arena will feature dual ice surfaces and will be located at the Steve Omischl Sports Complex at 1055 Lakeshore Drive.

The initial designs come after many meetings with stakeholders and many months of planning, according to the design team.
