Dreamcoat to host a special showing of Frozen Jr. Sunday

Dreamcoat Fantasy Theatre will be hosting a special showing of Frozen Jr. at the Capitol Centre this Sunday.

Starting at 12:00 p.m., the performance is a make-up date for the three shows which were lost on Tuesday and Thursday this week due to the rotating strikes by the teacher’s unions withdrawing from services from the Near North District School Board (NNDSB) and Nipissing-Parry Sound Catholic School Board (NPSC).

“More than 2,500 school children grades JK – 8 were expecting to come to see Frozen Jr. We want to give some of them an opportunity to still do so,” Carlson added.

Carlson says she was able to rearrange some schools to come out on Wednesday to see the production, but the “disappointment expressed in the many phone calls and emails received, prompted the theatre company to look at an alternative for all of the children that have been impacted by this.”

Tickets for the performance are available at the Capitol Centre box office, or by phone, but there are no online sales. The theatre group says the financial loss of the 3 shows will be significant, however, Dreamcoat will provide all tickets for this show at a cost $5.00 each, the same cost as the ticket for the school show, and children must be accompanied by an adult. School names will be noted for Dreamcoat records.

If the show sells out, another show will be added on Sunday for 3:30 p.m.

“Although lost revenue is a concern for Dreamcoat,” says Board of Directors Chair Jack Jones, “we just want to emphasize that as a registered charity, our prime function is to provide arts programming for children and we remain focused on delivering it the best way we know how – letting the kids in the cast perform and making more opportunities for other children to enjoy the show.”

There are also regular performances of the play Friday night at 7:00 p.m. and Saturday at 1:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. for $20.
