Another one day strike is coming to the Near North District School Board (NNDSB).
The Elementary Teachers’ Federation of Ontario (ETFO) announced the walkout for select boards across the province. ETFO has been negotiating new contracts with the province, but those talks have stalled.
Near North says due to safety concerns, including the inability to provide the required supervision to students, a full withdrawal of services will result in schools being closed to all elementary students (Grades JK-8) on January 29. This will include Grade 7 and 8 students who attend Intermediate/Secondary Schools.
The board adds because of the nature of the strike, parents are encouraged to make alternate arrangements for children. All Early Years Programs; Childcare, School-Aged Programs and Early On Child and Family Centres will remain open.
Schools will reopen on Thursday.
