Police respond to weekend stabbing incident

Early Sunday, the North Bay Police Service says officers responded to a report of a stabbing in a parking lot on Cassells Street in North Bay.

Police say the victim was in a parking lot in the 600 block of Cassells Street in North Bay just after midnight on Sunday. The accused made an unprovoked attack on the adult male victim from behind. The accused struck the victim in the head with a knife causing two lacerations. The victim pushed the accused away and ran away eastbound on First Avenue to a safe location.

The victim received non-life threatening injuries.

As a result of the investigation, a 29-year-old North Bay woman has been arrested and charged with:

  • One count of assault with a weapon
  • One count of breach of probation

NBPS says the accused was located and arrested later on Sunday. Police say they have recovered a knife as a result of the investigation.

The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing today at the North Bay Courthouse.
