Award nominations for Cardinal leads, Jerry O’Connell

Two series shot on location in and around North Bay will be represented at the Canadian Screen Awards.

CTV’s Cardinal has received several nominations, including for Best Drama Series, as well as Best Lead Actor and Best Lead Actress in a drama series for Billy Campbell and Karine Vanasse, last year’s winners.

Meanwhile, CTV Drama Channel’s Carter garnered two nominations, including a Best Lead Actor nod for Jerry O’Connell. The Carter star will try to prevent Campbell from taking home his third straight award in the category.

In all, Cardinal is in the running for 14 Canadian Screen Awards, to be presented at the ceremony during Canadian Screen Week, at the end of March.

Cardinal is based on the works of Giles Blunt who grew up in North Bay and who made the city the basis for the fictional backdrop of Cardinal, Algonquin Bay.
