Bring photo ID to 22 Wing checkpoints during training exercise

Don’t be alarmed by the increased armed military presence at 22 Wing/CFB North Bay.

That’s the word from Armed Forces officials who say military members are taking part in a three-day exercise running from Tuesday through Thursday.

Exercise Wing Dragon will focus on training for potential domestic threats within 22 Wing’s area of operation and is part of a series of training events and exercises conducted throughout the year with partners from the City of North Bay.

If you plan to visit the base during this period, expect vehicle and passenger checkpoints resulting in possible travel delays. All visitors to 22 Wing should carry valid photo identification.

Visitors could encounter personnel wearing protective gear and carrying weapons on base. Expect the use of emergency response vehicles, there may be simulated explosions and gunfire.

Officials say the exercise supports 22 Wing safety objectives and is an opportunity for the command to achieve an increased level of preparedness for operations.

Normal NORAD operations will not be impacted.
