OPP restricting access to facilities

The OPP is restricting access to its facilities to the public across Ontario in an attempt to flatten the curve of COVID-19, until further notice.

Officials say they are committed to the health and safety of their members and the public. They add their facilities will continue to operate during regular hours, but with enhanced screening measures.

Routine criminal record checks and vulnerable sector checks have been limited as well. Checks will only be done if deemed necessary, or for emergency circumstances. The OPP says if you require a check done, contact your local detachment in advance.

Additionally, detachment-specific emails have been set up online for non-emergent services and inquiries.

The OPP adds, for emergency situations call 9-1-1 and for all other police matters call your local detachment. For less serious incidents, report online.
