Expect delivery of social services cheques today

The temporary closure of the North Bay Post office due to a presumptive case of COVID-19 has necessitated alternate arrangments by the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board to deliver monthly cheques.

DNSSAB says it will issue payments as scheduled. Those receiving their payments by direct bank deposit will continue to do so through their bank and will not be affected by the post office closure. The cheques dated for March 31 are going out today.

Those who normally receive their cheques by mail will have them delivered by Purolator throughout the district. This includes cheque delivery for recipients, landlords, and vendors. For people who normally receive their mail at a PO Box, cheques will be delivered to the address they have provided and not the post office in their communities.

The DNSSAB says it strongly encourages all people receiving cheques from the organization to set up direct bank deposit to prevent any future delivery delays. If they require assistance doing so, they are asked to call 705-474-2151 or 1-877-829-5121. People are reminded that all DNSSAB offices are closed. In-office visits are restricted to emergency situations where individuals do not have access to a phone.

Further updates are posted regularly on the DNSSAB website.
