North Bay council delays comprehensive changes to bylaw

North Bay council will hold off on adopting comprehensive changes to its zoning by-law.  The main reason is because the area around First Avenue West is seeing some last minute changes and that concerns residents in the area.  Monday night was also the first time councillors saw the changes from staff.  The comprehensive changes to the by-law are the first since 1980 and this latest update will see the City through to 2030.  Among the changes are updates to home businesses.   There’s no limit to how many home businesses people can operate from their home as long as the square footage doesn’t exceed a certain size.  However you can’t operate from a garage and the business has to be conducive to the neighbourhood.  In other words if you open a lawn motor repair shop, expect a visit from city officials.
