Long weekend brings four more confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the area

The Easter long weekend has seen four more confirmed positive cases of COVID-19 under the North Bay and Parry Sound District Health Unit.

The two most recent cases involve a man in his 60s and a woman in her 50s, both with travel history to Vancouver, British Columbia. Both are in self-isolation.

On Sunday, the health unit announced a man in his 80s contracted the virus through close contact, with no further details released at this time.

The health unit announced, on Saturday, a man in his 20s had tested positive for COVID-19 through the community. He is currently self-isolating.

Of the 13 confirmed cases in the health unit’s catchment area, 10 are from the Nipissing District, and three are from the Parry Sound District. Six of the cases have been resolved, four individuals are hospitalized, and three are in self-isolation. The health unit says there have been 663 tests conducted.

Meanwhile, to the west of us in the Public Health and Sudbury districts, seven new confirmed cases have popped up over the weekend, pushing the total to 36.
