OPP: $46,000 of drugs seized, resident arrested

The OPP North East Region Community Street Crime Unit says they have taken another large amount of drugs off the streets.

Officers say they seized drugs that are suspected of being fentanyl, cocaine, crystal methamphetamine, and a quantity of Canadian currency. The street value of the drugs is estimated to be around $46,000.

As a result, a 32-year-old from West Nipissing has been arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin)
  • Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Other Drugs, (three counts)
  • Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 –
  • Failure to Comply with Release Order – Other than to Attend Court

Police say the accused remains in custody pending a video conference bail hearing on April 23 in North Bay.

This is the second large bust from the North East Street Crime Unit in less than a month. The first came on March 30 when police executed a search warrant leading to approximately $22,300 worth of drugs taken off the streets.
