Hospice names new Executive Director

Gil Pharand has been named the new Executive Director of the Nipissing Serenity Hospice.

“The Board of Directors for Nipissing Serenity Hospice is pleased to announce our new Executive Director Gil Pharand. Gil is a resident of North Bay and brings vast experience having worked with the Canadian Cancer Society here in the north,” states Vivian Papaiz, Board Chair of Nipissing Serenity Hospice. “He is uniquely qualified for the position with experience in senior management, strategic planning, revenue generation, budgeting, volunteer and donor stewardship, media relations, and government advocacy.”

“We believe that he will be a strong addition for Nipissing Serenity Hospice and look forward to his leadership as we continue to serve our residents, families, and communities in our service areas,” Papaiz added.

Officials say Pharand is a life-long citizen of northern Ontario and attended Laurentian University before moving to Nipissing. Through the university, he worked with donors and became heavily involved in several capital projects, including the Harris Learning Library.
