Some construction still on standby, but be ready says McDonald

With businesses and construction projects slowly starting back up construction season will soon be in full swing in North Bay.

While not every project will be able to get shovels in the ground right away, North Bay Mayor Al McDonald says city staff is ready to issue the permits.

“Our economic development office, our planning office, our building office, our engineering office, they’re all open,” he told Moose FM. “We will process all building permits, applications, subdivisions, rezoning, we are working and there is no stop there. We will be shovel ready when we get the green light.”

“There are still some criteria the province has where maybe you can’t start construction,” McDonald continued. “But I can tell you we’ll have it ready to go, all approved and shovel ready so when you do get the green light, they can move ahead.”

He adds construction of the casino is still on pause, but the new $21 million Norgalv plant construction has resumed.
