Cassellholme case confirmed positive; resident COVID-19 case now considered resolved

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit says they have received confirmation from a Microbiologist at the Ontario Public Health Lab in Toronto that the positive COVID-19 test result at Cassellholme was a true positive.

Officials say the person who tested positive, a resident between the age of 60 and 79, has since received two negative tests, meaning their COVID-19 case is considered resolved. However, Cassellholme will remain in outbreak. As per Ministry of Health guidelines, an outbreak can be declared over once 14-days passes without a new case of COVID-19.

Health unit officials say they are on track to complete testing of the areas long-term care home staff and residents by the province’s deadline of May 15.

As of Monday at 1:00 p.m. there are 19 cases in the area, with 16 listed as resolved. There have been 3,794 tests conducted.
