YES Employment to receive funding

Funding is coming to YES Employment from the provincial government.

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli announced on Wednesday that the employment service will receive $135,276 under the Skills Catalyst Fund.

Officials say the funding is for workforce development to test new, emerging ideas and approaches to labour market challenges.

“We’re pleased that YES Employment has received this one-time funding so that job seekers can connect with opportunities to find and keep good jobs, and employers can hire the skilled workers they need to thrive,” said Fedeli. “Bringing workforce development partners together plays an important role in preparing Ontario’s workers to succeed, and giving job creators greater access to the talent they need to thrive.”

Government officials say the first round of the Skills Catalyst Fund saw $6 million poured into 20 projects. This time around, $20 million will be spread between 60 projects that were selected for the funding out of 163 applications to the Ministry of Labour, Training and Skills Development.
