For the third straight weekend, the City of North Bay is closing down a portion of Memorial Drive.
“All the parking lots, the marina, the boardwalk, the dock, everything is accessible just like it always is,” Mayor Al McDonald said. “We do this for an active transportation route so people can go out and strengthen their mental health and get physical exercise.”
“It will be a little bit cooler this weekend,” he continued. “We think there might be more people out exercising.”
The same closure will be in effect this weekend as last, from 3:30 p.m. tomorrow until 8:00 a.m. Monday.
The public washrooms at the Lake Nipissing Marina will also be reopened, but McDonald says there will be restrictions in place.
“We got clearance to open the one at the marina,” McDonald explained. “You’re only allowed to go in one at a time.”
