Road construction season to begin next week

A popular phrase when talking to North Bay residents is the City experiences only two seasons – winter and construction.

Construction season is here in full swing as City officials have announced which roads will be undertaking the work beginning next week:

  • Booth Road from Turner Drive to Marshall Avenue
  • Strathcona Drive from Herman Crescent to Tecumseh Avenue
  • Cassells Street from Third Avenue West to Sixth Avenue West
  • John Street from Third Avenue East to Hardy Street
  • Hardy Street from Brookes Street to John Street
  • Rose Avenue from Ann Street to Douglas Street
  • Jane Street from Rock Street to Burns Street
  • Norwood Avenue from Browning Street to Algonquin Avenue
  • Norman Avenue from Rancier Street to Giroux Street
  • Wickstead Avenue from Barber Avenue to Sage Road
  • Oak Street East from Ferguson Street to Wyld Street
  • Gibson Street from Dree Street to Birchs Road
  • MacDonald Avenue East from Lee Avenue to Strathcona Drive
  • Edward Street from Gould Avenue to Foster Street
  • Gould Avenue from Shea Street to Edward Street
  • Terrace Lawn Drive from O’Brien Street to Ski Club Road

Officials add that the work is expected to last until October. The work involves pulverizing, milling, paving, granular shouldering and gutter replacement. The work also includes the rehabilitation of approximately 825 metres of the Kate Pace Way from Lee Park to the east.

Traffic will be affected because of the nature of the work, but the roadways will remain open for vehicles and pedestrians. If a road is closed, a detour will be set up. Updates will be provided when they become available.
