OPP seize drugs with an estimated value of $55,000

North Bay OPP says a search warrant has resulted in charges for three individuals.

Police say the search warrant was used at a home on Smith Road. There they seized a quantity of drugs they suspect to be fentanyl, crystal methamphetamine, methamphetamine pills, ecstasy pills and MDMA and more than $7,000 in cash. The street value of the drugs is believed to be $55,000.

As a result, a 46-year-old has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (four counts)
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Over $5,000

A 25-year-old from Brampton faces two charges, including:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

Lastly, a 24-year-old from Scarborough has been charged with:

  • Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking
  • Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5,000

The 46-year-old remains in custody pending a bail hearing. The two from southern Ontario has been released. They will appear before court in North Bay on August 11.

Officials say the Almaguin Highlands OPP assisted by arresting two of the accused through a traffic stop. The OPP Community Street Crime Unit, Ontario Crime Enforcement Bureau, and North Bay Police Service helped as well.
