The OPP is reporting of the six fatal off-road vehicle (ORV) fatalities this year, half of them were found not wearing a helmet.
Officials say wearing a helmet can provide crucial protection on ORV. Especially with losing control of off-road vehicles being a major contributor to fatalities, helmets can provide protection if you crash, tip or fall off an ORV.
When it comes to cyclists, police say helmets are just as important. Every cyclist under the age of 18 must wear an approved helmet. For youths and children under 16 years of age, a parent or guardian must ensure their child wears a helmet every time they ride their bicycle.
