Chamber asks Air Canada to reconsider departure

Air Canada is being asked by the North Bay and District Chamber of Commerce to reconsider cancelling service out of the Jack Garland Airport.

It’s one of several airports and offices being abandoned, as the airline struggles to survive the COVID-19 pandemic.

In a letter to CEO Calin Rovinescu , chamber president Peter Chirico points out that it’s the only air connection between North Bay and Toronto for business people. Losing it, he says, is a barrier to growth.

“On behalf of the business community in North Bay & District, we would ask that
the decision be reversed and that consideration for reinstatement of flights to and
from North Bay (YYB)-Toronto (YYZ), be given. Air Canada has been part of this
community for almost a century and the residents and businesses have supported
your airline through many challenging periods.”
