Speeding on Highway 63 results in charges

A 50-year-old from North Bay is facing charges after speeding down the highway, according to the OPP.

Police say around 3:30 p.m., an officer saw the vehicle speeding along Highway 63 in Phelps Township. The officer turned on their emergency lights and turned around to stop the vehicle; the driver had pulled into a driveway and fled the area.

Officers say the search was assisted by the OPP Emergency Response Team, Canine Unit, and Aviation Services Helicopter Section. Three hours later, they located the accused and seized a small amount of cocaine and hydromorphone.

Police say the accused has been released. They will answer to their charges on August 11 before court in North Bay.
