NBPS to monitor Airport Road

The North Bay Police Service (NBPS) Traffic Section will be concentrating on enforcement and education in the Airport Road area of the city this week as they’ve received complaints from members of the public referencing speeding in the area.

Special Constable and Community Safety Coordinator for the NBPS John Shultz says that a cruiser will be assigned to the area.

“After speaking with our traffic sergeant [Monday] morning, he shared that people were calling in and voicing their concerns and requesting enforcement in the area. So we’re going to have one car there that concentrates on enforcement. Historically, there are a couple of areas in the city that has seen many complaints. This is one of them.”

Shultz says that the designated officer will use his discretion when it comes to education.

“It’s always up to [the officers]; whether they’re handing out tickets, pulling people over or issuing rule of the road infraction. I’m certain that the officer will be focusing on speeding, but certainly he will be monitoring all types of traffic infringements.”

Shultz added that statistics will be shared with the public later in the week, as well as providing feedback on results the assigned officer has seen.
