Officers seize nearly $8000 of drugs

On July 29, members of the OPP Street Crime Unit and Nipissing West Detachment executed a search warrant at a residence on Cache Bay Road in Sturgeon Falls.

OPP states that officers removed a large amount of drugs from the residence, including Fentanyl, Crystal Methamphetamine, Crystal Methamphetamine tablets, and hydromorphone along with drug paraphernalia and over $6500 in Canadian Currency.

The street value of the drugs seized is approximately $7800.

As a result of the investigation, seven people were arrested and charged.

A 38-year-old Nipissing First Nation man was charged with:

Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA); and
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the Criminal Code (CC).

He was released on an undertaking and is scheduled to appear in Sturgeon Falls court on October 1.

A 43-year-old Sturgeon Falls man was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine, contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA;
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 5(2) of the CDSA;
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA;
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA; and
Possession Property Obtained by Crime Over $5000 – in Canada, contrary to section 354(1)(a) of the CC.

He remains in custody and is scheduled to appear in North Bay Bail Court on July 30.

a 32-year-old Sturgeon Falls woman was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA;
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA; and
Fail to Comply with Probation Order, contrary to section 733.1(1) of the Criminal Code (CC).

a 47-year-old and 22-year-old with no fixed addresses were charged with
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA; and
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Opioid (other than heroin), contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.

A 19-year-old from Sturgeon Falls was charged with:
Possession of a Schedule 1 Substance – Methamphetamine, contrary to section 4(1) of the CDSA.

and a 39-year-old Corbeil woman was charged with :
Failure to Comply with Release Order – other than to attend court, contrary to section 145(5)(a) of the CC.

The five accused persons were released on an Appearance Notice and are scheduled to appear at the Sturgeon Falls Court of Justice on October 1.
