The provincial police watchdog will be investigating the death of a man in North Bay.
The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) share that they are investigating circumstances surrounding an incident that occurred on July 29, 2020, in the City.
The SIU says that at around 12:35 pm on July 29, North Bay Police Service officers and EMS were dispatched to a residence in the area of Main and Mattawa Street in North Bay for an adult male in medical distress.
Officers and EMS arrived and located the 35-year-old man unconscious. CPR was initiated by police and continued by EMS staff.
The man was then transported to the North Bay Regional hospital where he was pronounced deceased.
One police officer has been designated as the subject officer and another as a witness officer to the investigation.
The post mortem took place on Aug. 5.
The SIU is urging anyone who may have information about the investigation to contact the lead investigator at 1-800-787-8529. The unit is also asking anyone who may have any video evidence related to this incident to upload it through the SIU website.
