Clark Marketing Communications began as a simple digital marketing company and is now helping municipalities across the province in their social assistance programs.
The company was one of a handful to receive a grant from the Northern Ontario Heritage Fund earlier this month. The company was awarded $60,000.
Scott Clark, President of Clark Marketing Communications says that the money will go towards bolstering their software which is being used by the District of Nipissing Social Services Administration Board to help people find work.
“Our software matches people not just with jobs but matches people with jobs, interests, training and education and what’s available out in the workforce,” Clark explained.
Clark says that his software will be effective in improving the approach that social services take.
“When people in social services are working with clients, they’ll ask them all the basic information that they need to know. But one of the things that our software does is ask asset information. So it’s things like: what would you like to do?; what do you have experience in?; where can you travel to?” Clark said.
Clark says that there are resources available to help people in social assistance programs as it is, but it’s sometimes hard to find.
“We sort of centralize some of this information so we can match people with some of the things within a region,” he said.
Clark Marketing Communications is helping social assistance programs in municipalities across Ontario, including eight First Nation communities. Clark says that it’s nice to see a vision come to fruition on such a grand scale.
“We started something, we’ve worked with municipalities in the past, showcasing [our software] with the government as well and seeing this product – this idea – that started here in North Bay which has really taken off. It’s amazing,” he concluded.
