Incubator to benefit new businesses

Genesis@ 204 is now open in North Bay.  The business incubator has room for eight small retail shops on the first floor and 14 business related offices on the second.  During the official opening, Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli and mayor Al McDonald said they wished they had something like this when they first went into business years ago.  Spokesman Don Curry understands where they’re coming from and says the entrepreneurs at Genesis won’t have to run into the same problems that McDonald and Fedeli did years earlier.   He says entrepreneurs will have access to a lot of help including workshops.  They also get to start up without facing additional costs most other businesses now face.  Curry says the goal is for the new start-ups to leave Genesis after a while and employ people at a new location and pay taxes to help the Cirtty grow.  Genesis is the result of numerous partnerships.  The big ones, FedNor, the Heritage Fund and Trillium Foundation are putting up $300,000 over two years to help launch it.
