Impaired driver tip leads to drug charges

A 29-year-old North Bay woman has been charged with two counts of impaired and one count of possession.

North Bay OPP say officers responded to tips of a potential impaired driver who was slumped over the steering wheel on Tuesday on Highway 94 in Callander.

Police found the driver behind the wheel of a U-Haul, parked at a lookout on the highway.

After speaking with the driver, officers arrested her on the scene and brought her back to the detachment for further testing.

Police say they searched the van and found a small amount of suspected white fentanyl, purple fentanyl and Percocet. A 19-year-old passenger from West Nipissing was also arrested and charged with possession.

Both were released on an undertaking and will attend court on October 27.

This marks the 32nd driver North Bay OPP have charged with impaired this year.
