UPDATE: Health Unit records first positive COVID-19 case in two months

UPDATE:

The Health Unit has released a statement on the 38th positive case.

“The individual tested positive for COVID-19 outside of Canada, where they isolated for 14 days. Upon return to Canada, they isolated again for 14 days, as per the Quarantine Act. As the individual’s permanent address is in our district, the individual is counted in our case numbers,” the statement said.

“The individual was not infectious while in the Health Unit’s district.”

Despite the additional case to the Health Unit’s overall count, there are still no active cases in the region.

30,916 tests have been conducted as of Wednesday.

The North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit (Health Unit) has recorded its first positive COVID-19 case in over two months.

The 38th positive case is a man between 20-39 who contracted the virus via travel, according to the Health Unit’s website. The website also says that the case is considered “resolved.”

This marks the first case in the Health Unit’s region since July 4.

Of the 38 cases, 25 have been in the Nipissing area and 13 have been in Parry Sound. There has been one death in the region because of the virus.
