Halloween Night for Kids and Santa Claus Parade cancelled

The City of North Bay says that two big events have been cancelled due to COVID-19.

The North Bay Fire and Emergency Services has cancelled it’s annual Halloween Night for Kids, while the City has cancelled this year’s Santa Claus Parade.

Mayor Al McDonald says that the City is disappointed that these two popular community events can’t be held this year.

“But it is important that we do everything we can to prevent the spread of COVID-19 and help keep North Bay residents safe and health,” said the Mayor.

City staff are consulting with other municipalities and exploring alternatives to the parade.

The events were cancelled after consultations with the North Bay Parry Sound District Health Unit.

“We understand that these events are important to our community,” said Dr. Jim Chirico, Medical Officer of Health for the Health Unit. “However, during these uncertain times, we need to ensure that the safety of the public is the top priority.”
