Busy Friday for North Bay Police: weapons, drugs seized

The North Bay Police Service made multiple arrests on Friday in two separate incidents which resulted in cash, drugs and weapons being seized by officers.

Police find drugs, money during traffic stop

Three North Bay residents are facing drug charges after a traffic stop.

The North Bay Police Service says that on the evening of September 11 a police officer stopped the vehicle and determined the driver was impaired. After being arrested, police found suspected drugs in the vehicle and the two female passengers were also arrested.

The investigation resulted in the seizure of:

  • 6.6 grams of suspected fentanyl

  • 2.7 grams of suspected crystal methamphetamine

  • 1.2 grams of suspected cocaine

  • packaging materials

  • a cutting agent

  • digital scales

  • Canadian Currency totalling $3,735.00

The total street value of the drugs located was estimated to be $3,280.00

a 31-year-old man was charged with:

  • One count of Impaired Driving (drug)

  • Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (suspected Fentanyl and Crystal Methamphetamine)

  • One Count of Breach of Probation.

a 30-year-old woman was charged with:

  • Two counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (suspected Fentanyl and Crystal Methamphetamine)

  • One Count of Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.

a 33-year-old woman was charged with:

  • Three counts of Possession of a Schedule I Substance for the Purpose of Trafficking (suspected Fentanyl, Cocaine and Crystal Methamphetamine),

  • One count of Possession of Proceeds of Property Obtained by Crime under $5000; and

  • One count of Breach of Probation.

One female was released from custody and she will appear in a North Bay courtroom on November 17.

The other two accused remain in custody pending bail hearings.

Paintball gun fired in parking lot incident

A 19-year-old North Bay man has been issued numerous charges by North Bay police after an altercation in a parking lot.

Police say that they received calls from a victim who was being threatened by a man with a knife as he was walking to his vehicle in a parking lot on Cassells Street. Officers say that the accused began firing a paintball gun at the victim’s vehicle.

The victim and their vehicle were both fine.

Officer located the man near the parking lot, arrested him and confiscated:

  • A grey and black paintball gun

  • A kitchen knife

  • Four separate baggies containing a total of 51 Xanax pills.

  • Four small individual baggies each containing 0.3 grams of suspected purple fentanyl

  • Two pill crushers

  • A scale

  • $30.00 in Canadian Currency

As a result, the man has been charged with:

  • One Count of Assault with a Weapon;

  • Two Counts of Possession of a Weapon for a Dangerous Purpose;

  • Two Counts of Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking; and

  • One Count of Possession of Proceeds of Crime.

The man is currently awaiting a bail hearing.
