A 36-year-old North Bay man is facing assault charges after police say he got into a fight on Cassells Street.
The North Bay Police Services say that around midnight last night, police were called to a fight in progress on the sidewalk outside a business.
Police say that in an unprovoked act, the accused confronted the adult male victim who is known to him.
The accused initially threw a knife at the victim, and then began punching him and knocking him to the ground. Police then arrived and arrested the accused.
The victim received a minor injury.
The accused remains in custody pending a bail hearing at the North Bay Courthouse.
He is charged with:
One count of Assault with a Weapon;
One Count of Assault; and
One count of breach of probation.
