Canadore welcoming hundreds to open house, top chef also being crowned

Canadore College in North Bay is expecting more than 700 people at its Open House today. The event is to entice prospective students to the school. College president George Burton says students can meet their future instructors, tour classrooms and talk to learning advisors. The Open House runs from 10 to 2 at all three Canadore campuses in the city. Meanwhile, the school will also crown the Next Top Chef this afternoon. The college is holding its annual food competition for high school students to see who can cook up the best food. In total 10 student teams from across the province are part of the contest. Judges will determine the best menu based on several factors including presentation and taste. The winners get free first semester tuition to one of Canadore’s culinary programs. The food cook-off runs from nine to 2 in room D 113 and the public is invited.
