Women between 50 and 74 years old are asked to drop into the North Bay Regional Health Centre today for a Mammogram. They are hosting their annual Mammo-Rama challenge, and women can receive a screening between 7 AM and 7 PM today with no appointment.
Carole Philip-Shillington is Medical Radiation Technologist at West Nipissing General Hospital and says early detection is the key to beating the disease. She suggests that women in that age group should get a mammogram every two years.
In 2013, it was estimated that over 9-thousand Ontario woman would be diagnosed with breast cancer.
