Fedeli addresses North Bay doctor shortage in legislature…

Nipissing MPP Vic Fedeli is calling on immediate action from Ontario’s Health Minister to address the shortage of family doctors in the North Bay area. Fedeli spoke about the issue in legislature yesterday.

He said that the city is short about 10 doctors, with an estimated 12 thousand patients without a family physician. That’s about 20 per cent of the city’s population.

He asked the Health Minister to envision what it would be like if a million patients in Toronto didn’t have a family doctor, because that’s a comparable ratio. Fedeli also asked the Health Minister to recognize the severity of the situation, and take immediate action.
